Sad Life of Trees

They sit
or stand on the ground
where they were planted from flying propellers
and grow up.
They wave their leaves with the help of the wind
but never leave.
Never get to travel, see the world,
visit or learn the cultures of other trees
or wade their roots in the sand.
Trees never get to travel on a train
and see the cows
sitting on the ground
churning their milk.
Trees never get to lie on their backs,
have branches behind their head
and look at the stars.
Never fall in love.
They stay put
and watch life pass by
next to roads
in back yards
or between buildings
getting pissed on
fighting their fellow leaves
for the warm sun’s attention.
